For our 2023 artist collection, notNeutral partnered with Interact Center for Visual & Performing Arts, a progressive visual arts studio and theater company dedicated to artistic excellence, radical inclusion, and challenging perceptions of disability. At Interact, artists with and without disabilities collaborate as equals, inspiring audiences to explore the full spectrum of human potential.
notNeutral worked closely with Interact’s gallery team to select works by three artists, adapting their original illustrations and paintings to design three limited-edition Lino mugs. A portion of sales will be paid as royalties to the artists and to Interact to advance their mission to support the creative growth of artists with disabilities.
About the Artist: Andrew Seymour
Almost every piece that Andrew Seymour has created in the last two decades is titled “Summer”, a reference to summers at his mother's lake cabin in northern Minnesota. Seymour describes the circular forms throughout his work as people, and they appear in every piece. In some cases, they represent family at the lake or artists in the studio. Seymour begins each piece by drawing a circle in the top left corner of the paper or canvas, working across the page in a way that echoes the process of writing. Seymour's abundant archive traces decades of persistence and a truly singular vision.
He has presented work in exhibitions throughout Minnesota, including We Are Not Disposable (2020), Randomland at The White Page (2019), Groundswell at Artspace Jackson Flats (2019), and Work with Your Quirk at the Bridgewater Lofts (2019).
notNeutral collaborated with award-winning baristas to design Lino, the perfect cups for specialty coffee. Each cup’s interior curvature is optimized for latte art and thermal insulation, and the flush handle ensures comfort and control for barista and drinker alike. Recognized for its meticulous design and iconic shape, Lino has become a staple in coffee shops, restaurants, and the homes of coffee enthusiasts around the world.
